The COVID-19 quarantine has left me at home with more time on my hands, which has led me to try out some piano live streaming. I am by no means a professional streamer, and the upcoming jumble of words are a result of my personal experiences and my expeditions into the Google abyss.
And now, here are three levels of setup for anyone who might be interested in live streaming piano! The purpose of this guide is to show you how to simultaneously stream to Facebook, Youtube, and Zoom (call/webinar), all from the convenience of OBS.
Per a friend's idea, I arranged and uploaded an overly flourished cover of a familiar nursery rhyme tune. It was a fun challenge, and I'm hoping that this sparks a series of covers that will continue until who knows when. Along with each cover, I plan to write out a companion post on this blog to share my creative process, so here's my first one!
I've always found the top-down angle of the piano keyboard to be a very clean look. It shows exactly where the fingers are landing, and provides a good perspective of how the hand is moving across the keys.
I recently put out a recording of a piano cover on "A Mother's Prayer" by the Gettys using this angle. Some people asked how I achieved this view of my keyboard, so I'm writing this to share the setup that I used. Links will be provided for all of my gear, should you want to try this out for your own recordings! |
